What is the tourist tax?
The tourist tax of 220CVE per day, applicable to adults over the age of 16, is a local tax, charged to those who stay (or stay overnight) in a tourist accommodation situated in each of the islands of the Cape Verde archipelago where this tax was introduced. This type of tax is not paid by those who manage the accommodation, but by the people who stay there, and the full amount collected by the local government, according to the regulations, is entirely invested in tourism.
